The founders and majority owners of GUESS are brothers, Maurice and Paul Marciano.GUESS started in 1981 as a small California jeans company and it is now a global lifestyle brand.
They first became famous when Bloomingdales, as a favour to the brothers, displayed two dozen pairs of the 3-zip Marilyn jean and within hours the entire stock was sold out. The GUESS label was born and is now known worldwide.
The ground breaking advertising campaigns launched many unknown models, Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova and Naomi Campbell to name but a few.
In the 80's GUESS products expanded to include Baby GUESS, eyewear, watches, GUESS footwear and fragrance.
The 90's saw expansion into Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, Australia and The Middle East. Even more products were introduced such as handbags, activewear, jewellery, swimwear, leather belts, GUESS collection and mens classics.
In the mid 90's GUESS became a public company and launched it's first website.
In Dec 2004 GUESS had 21 domestic and international licensess and distribution in major cities throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America and The Middle East. It was also in this year that GUESS celebrated their 20th Anniversary.
WATCH CARE
Leather straps - do not submerge in water. Even waterproof straps are water resistant but are not impervious to water and sould not be submerged for long periods of time.
Rubber/soft plastic - Avoid spraying fragrance or contact with detergents, insecticides etc. Stains made by dye, paints and oily substances may be difficut to remove. Due to the composition of the material straps, they may harden or discolour after extensive use.
Water resistant - Watches marked GUESS? waterproof or GUESS? steel are water resistant from 3ATM to 10ATM only as long as lens, buttons, crown, caseback and gaskets remain intact. Do not operate crowns or buttons when the watch is wet or under water.
Watches with no water resistant markings are splash proof and are not suitable for swimming.
Rinse watch with fresh water after exposure to salt water then always wipe watch dry.
Care and safety measures - Water resistance is not permanent. In the course of time the gaskets of the cases may become worn and reduce the water resistance of the watches.
